Las Noches de las Luminarias
Desert Botanical Gardens, located in Phoenix, is celebrating its 37th Las Noches de las Luminarias—one of the greatest holiday events in the area. Extending for 16 nights, more than 8,000 hand-lit luminaria bags, thousands of white twinkle lights and the vibrant sounds and sights of 10 entertainment groups will bring the Garden to life for local families and friends to enjoy.
Season for Sharing funds agencies that help at-risk children & families, improve education, aid victims of domestic violence and serve the elderly are asking for donations at the event.
Circle K New Year’s Eve Block Party
Mill Avenue District, located in Tempe, is throwing a New Year’s Eve Block Party. From 6pm-1am, you can celebrate the upcoming new year with interactive games and activities, view musical entertainment on local band side stages, and grab dinner or a late night snack from gourmet food trucks. Things like beer & champagne gardens, and high energy Video Dance stages, as well as the Family Fun Zone for children will be available. When the clock strikes 12, witness a spectacular fireworks display and confetti blast!
Every winter season, the Grand Canyon Railway’s Polar Express, located in Williams, offers a journey from the nighttime wilderness of Williams, Arizona, to the enchanted beauty of “the North Pole”—where Santa Claus and his reindeer are waiting with a keepsake present for every good boy and girl. It’s a chance to truly bring the Christmas spirit to young children, and perhaps even make it a family tradition! The ride lasts a little over an hour, with the train leaving each night at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., as well as select days that feature a 3:30 p.m. matinee departure.
Vizio Fiesta Bowl
For all the sport lovers, the Vizio Fiesta Bowl 2014 is coming to University of Phoenix Stadium located in Glendale for the New Year. Fiesta Bowl is returning for its 44th year in Glendale. There will be plenty of activities, pregame parties and some great games scheduled. Join friends, family and other football fanatics to watch the Arizona Wildcats play Boise State Broncos at this year’s Fiesta Bowl!
